November 20, 2025 – Initial sitework began. As of December 2025, the construction site has been cleared of tree stumps (site was previously cleared of trees in early 2025), construction of a silt fence has been completed to prevent soil runoff from the construction site and to protect nearby wetlands, and construction of temporary chain link fence surrounding construction site has been completed for security purposes.

March 24, 2026 – A section of secondary airport security fence that was located across the construction site has been permanently relocated to allow for access to the entire construction site. Security cameras have been installed. Installation of site drainage structures and stormwater piping has begun. Top soil has been stripped from the construction site and is being stockpiled for reuse as the sitework progresses. Shallow soils where PFAS had been previously detected is being excavated for disposal offsite.

June 23, 2026 – Building excavation began earlier this month and is ongoing. Temporary sediment basins and associated drainage piping and structures have been installed, which allows for the detention and treatment of stormwater run-off on the site during construction. Bird deterrent systems have been installed over the temporary basins. In addition, portions of the permanent drainage system and outfall structures have been installed as well. Construction of the Support of Excavation (SOE) system, which supports and stabilizes the vertical walls of earth for the building excavation, is ongoing. The system consists of vertical soldier piles (H-beams) with timber lagging between them and soil anchors to pin the lagging into the undisturbed earth.
